Sonia accuses Modi govt of dividing society on religious lines, slams spurt in incidents of communal violence
Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday attacked the NDA government over increasing incidents of communal violence in the country.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday attacked the NDA government over increasing incidents of communal violence in the country.

"There has been a spurt in communal violence in the country, especially in some states, after the new government came to power," Sonia said addressing Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee convention here.

The Congress president said there was a clear deliberate attempt to divide the society on religious lines.

Sonia claimed that there were hardly any incidents of communal violence during the UPA rule.

The BJP was quick to dismiss Sonia'a allegations.

Minister of state in PMO Jitendra Singh said Sonia's allegations were baseless.

Earlier, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had targeted the Modi govt over increasing incidents of communal violence.
